I think Qantas must be one of the only airlines that charge a fee to join their frequent flyer program. Worst of all, Qantas has been offering free memberships for those living outside of Australia for years, and the family free offer appears to be running indefinitely.

Hi Jonathan, you could ask them for a refund but it’s unlikely there’s a free cancellation in the T&Cs.
